Why I Love The Instax Link Wide Printer
Over the years, I’ve dabbled with Fujifilm Instax cameras, but I’ve never been delighted with the print quality. As a result, my cameras spent more time collecting dust on the shelf than being used. Despite their charm, the prints often came out either too bright or frustratingly dark, which took away from the fun of using them. I owned the Instax Mini Evo 90, which was top-of-the-line then, but it just didn’t click with me. After about a year of occasional use, I decided to part ways with it.
In early 2022, I picked up a second-hand Instax Wide 300, hoping for a better experience. While the camera was impressive—almost as big as my Canon 5D Mark III—it wasn’t precisely portable or practical to carry alongside my primary digital gear. Aside from a few family snapshots at home, it mostly sat unused. Eventually, I sold it, recouping my money and making a small profit since the model was no longer in production.
Everything changed when my friend James (Website) introduced me to a Canon printer similar to the Instax printer. He raved about how much he enjoyed printing photos and giving them as gifts to the models he worked with. Inspired by his enthusiasm, I decided to try the Instax Link Wide Printer. I bought it a few months ago and haven’t looked back since.
The print quality is leaps and bounds ahead of what the Instax cameras produce. What’s more, the portability of the printer makes it a game-changer. I can take it anywhere, print high-quality photos on the spot, and hand them out to people. Whether it’s a keepsake for myself or a gift for someone else, the ability to turn digital images into tangible prints is incredibly satisfying.
Using the Instax Wide app on my phone, I can easily connect to the printer, select photos, and even customize prints with text, stickers, or QR codes. The QR code feature is elegant—it allows me to link the print to my website or social media, adding a modern twist to a classic medium.
This printer has quickly become an essential part of my photography kit. There’s something uniquely impactful about handing someone a physical print versus sending a digital file. Over the next few weeks, I plan to use it extensively, and I can’t recommend it enough to fellow photographers. If you’re looking for a way to bring your work to life, this printer—or something like it—is a must-have. I’m excited to keep printing and sharing my work in a way that feels personal and meaningful.
